OBTAINING CEUs FOR THE NCRW CERTIFICATION AND RECERTIFICATION

Non-NCRWs (Members who have not acquired the NCRW certification)

  1. Published Books: Five CEUs for books on résumés and cover letters published through a major publishing company (cannot be self-published). To get credit for the CEUs, you must submit a one-to-two page summary of the book indicating its compliance or non-compliance with the Study Guide. If the book contains sections that are not in compliance with the Study Guide, please explain why.
  2. Convention Presenters on Resume Writing, Cover Letter Writing, and CV Topics:
    1. Featured presenters at NRWA conventions will receive two CEUs for each presentation. Presenters must turn in all of their materials/handouts prior to the convention for review by the Certification Commission.
    2. Featured presenters at non-NRWA conventions to an audience of industry (career services) professionals will receive two CEUs for each presentation – up to a maximum of 10 CEUs. Presenters must submit a one-to-two page summary of their topic indicating its agreement with the Study Guide. If it does not comply with Study Guide, please explain why.

    Please note: A featured presenter is classified as an individual who has prepared a specific presentation on some facet of résumé and cover letter writing – not someone who sits on a panel.

  3. NRWA’s Online Training Program: Two CEUs for every completed segment of the online training program.
  4. Book Reviews: Two CEUs for every book review. In order to get credit, you must submit a two-page summary of the book and include a final paragraph that describes its compliance or non-compliance with the Study Guide. Also indicate whether you would recommend the book for the approved book list and why.
  5. NRWA Conventions:
    1. 2005 Stamford: Ten CEUs
    2. 2006 Phoenix: Ten CEUs
    3. 2007 Savannah: Ten CEUs
    4. 2008 San Diego: Ten CEUs
  6. Training Classes: You will receive one CEU for every hour you attend in a comprehensive, “show-tell-do”, interactive résumé training.
  7. Teleconference/Teleseminars: One CEU for each teleseminar you attend that is focused on résumé writing.
  8. NRWA Teleseminar Speaker: Two CEUs for every teleseminar you conduct/teach on a résumé and cover letter writing.
  9. Non-NRWA Conferences/Workshops: If you attend other conferences and workshops they may qualify for CEUs. You will need to submit a one-page synopsis of the program and the CEU value will be determined by the Certification Advisory Board.
  10. Business Writing / Written Communications Classes: You will receive one CEU for every credit earned within a three-year period. You must have passed grade and submit copy of transcript.
    1. If the class was earned during your Bachelor’s degree program – the same requirements apply.
    2. If the class was earned during your Master’s degree program – the same requirements apply.

  2. Certification Commission: If you serve on the Certification Commission, you will receive one CEU for each sample or test reviewed. Each Certification Commission member may obtain up to a maximum of 10 CEUs from grading.

  4. Mentoring with NRWA Mentoring Program: Two CEUs for every six-week mentoring session. Each mentor can obtain up to 10 CEUs from mentoring. If you provide mentoring for another career association/organization, you can receive up to five CEUs.
  5. NRWA’s Online Training Program: Two CEUs for every completed segment of the online training program.
